Pretty strict about the pokastops located here. They will track you down and ask you to leave if you linger to long haha. No big deal though it's understandable. As for the church itself I did used to attend. It used to have a great ministry before I stopped going. It used to be a church for all the other people as they put it; and I felt that fit me perfectly. Not so much these days tho. It got a little too formal for me honestly.

My wife and I used to attend this church. It's been some time so I can say any bias I felt is long gone. While the ministry team in the past was highly effective in providing an emotional and worshipful experience, there were other matters that were difficult for me to accept.
The biggest problem for me was the obvious mismanagement of finances at the church. For an Easter service they rented the Rose Quarter (Now known as the Moda Center). While the dollar amount was never disclosed publicly it was apparent afterward they had financial problems from this. For example they were running a private school. Then when the Fall came around the school completely dissolved.
They started a church plant in New Zealand (of all places). However within a year it was entirely gone. What happened? They fizzled out.
In the past, former pastor John Bishop would say things like "God doesn't want your tip money". I recall, prior to our exit from the congregation, he changed his position saying "God now wants your tip money". They began a "bucket challenge" campaign in the church, holding altar-calls (traditionally a deeply religious motion for Christian individuals) having the congregation bring their tithes up to the front and putting them in a bucket. An altar call involving money.....seems very pharisaic to me.
More recently John Bishop stepped down from his ministry at Living Hope due to a number of "moral indiscretions" he committed. I know people involved. Allegedly he had become an alcoholic. Allegedly he cheated on his wife. Allegedly there was money embezzling as well. Note, I am not making any accusations against the Bishop family, or Living Hope, so please don't sue me. I'm merely stating the reality of the atmosphere surrounding this supposed "house of God".
In the end when my family and I decided to leave, it was a very easy decision to make. Living hope was big on the razzmatazz, but short on delivery of any deeper personal growth.Added November 17, 2016 by Objective Christian
